Sara Isaacson and "Little Joe" say Hello!
Heart of the Redwoods Horse Rescue and their pony, "Little Joe" visited with the folks at Fortuna Adult Day Health Center on Wednesday, October 11, 2006. "Little Joe" was fed carrots and greeted everyone.
Heart of the Redwoods (HRHR) visits community schools, youth groups, Adult Day Centers, and other groups with a horse or pony in an effort to educate the community in horse behavior and care. These Community Outreach visits also provide some individuals with their first large animal contact. "I am 85 years old and this is the first time that I have petted a horse!" exclaimed one resident.
Heart of the Redwoods Horse Rescue (HRHR) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation that rescues and rehabilitates abused, neglected and unwanted horses in Humboldt County.
HRHR is supported by the community with donated grass hay, donated stalls and corrals from Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, donated horse tack, discounted veterinary care, etc. HRHR is totally operated by volunteers that donate time, money and expertise in horse care.
